Bovine Rhinotracheitis-Virus Diarrhea-Parainfluenza3-Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine
Modified Live Virus
Mannheimia Haemolytica-Pasteurella Multocida Bacterin-Toxoid
Indications: Recommended for the vaccination of healthy, susceptible cattle 30 days of age or older as an aid in the reduction of diseases caused by Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus, Bovine Virus Diarrhea (BVD) Types 1 and 2, Parainfluenza3 (PI3) virus, Bovine Respiratory Syncytial virus (BRSV), Mannheimia haemolytica, and Pasteurella multocida.
Composition: The amber glass vial contains IBR, BVD Types 1 & 2, PI3, and BRSV MLV viruses. The plastic vial contains toxoids (leukotoxoids) and cell-associated antigens from multiple isolates of M. haemolytica type A-1 fractions, and cell-associated and soluble antigens from P. multocida. The antigens are combined in the Life II adjuvant system.
Directions: Rehydrate the modified live virus vaccine by aseptically adding the accompanying bottle of liquid bacterin.
Dosage: Using aseptic technique, inject 2 mL subcutaneously in front of the shoulder and midway of the neck, away from the suprascapular lymph node. If initial vaccination, repeat the BRSV, M. haemolytica, and P. multocida fractions in 14-28 days. Calves vaccinated before 6 months age should be revaccinated at 6 months. A 2 mL booster dose is recommended annually.
Precautions: Store out of direct sunlight between 35-45°F (2-7°C). Avoid freezing. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 60 days before slaughter. Stressed cattle should not be vaccinated. Do not use in pregnant cows or in calves nursing pregnant cows. Burn containers and all unused contents. Injection site swelling may occur, which may be persistent after subcutaneous use. Anaphylactic reactions, including delayed hypersensitivity reactions or death, may occur with a biological product and can cause reduced milk production in lactating dairy cattle.
Antidote: Epinephrine.
Preservatives: Neomycin and thimerosal.
Warning: Animal inoculation only. Accidental injection to humans can cause serious local reactions. Contact a physician immediately if accidental injection occurs.
This package contains one 10 dose or 50 dose vial of MLV vaccine and one 20 mL or 100 mL vial of liquid bacterin diluent.
Note: It is possible that healthy appearing cattle can be persistently infected with or incubating virulent BVD virus at time of vaccination. In view of these findings and suggested causes, BVD MLV vaccine is contraindicated in persistently infected cattle and use should be limited only to healthy, immunocompetent, unstressed, non-pregnant cattle.
